Finally the media withchunt has claimed its first martyr. Greed and money has blinded everyone. Soon India will become a mediocre test team concentrating only on T20 and ODIs
Mr Ganguly, I really admire the decision that you have made and I think it has come at a perfect time. After that lean patch in between during which you were disgraced, you fought back and fought back in style by silencing all your critics last year. It was the best year of your career with a maiden double century against Pak to top it off. Dont worry about the one bad series against Sri Lanka... not one Indian batsman could stand the Mendis test. We have forgotten that already, Mr Ganguly. I hope you perform well against the Aussies and retire from the game gracefully and still at your peak.Yes, your peak is already way beyond you, but as they say the candle is at its brightest just before it goes out, I hope you leave the game just in the same way. You have been a great ambassador to India's cricket fraternity and the BEST CAPTAIN that India has ever produced. May your legend remain forever in the history of Indian cricket. All the best !!!

I agree with you. I will really miss his batting and most importantly, the never say die attitude and the courage to give back in equal measure to the opponents that he inculcated in his bunch of youngsters. But for the brief period of ego taking over during Greg Chapell's time, Saurav has been in my book of admiration at the top.

Apart from the one century he scored at Brisbane in 2003 he has done little against Aus in Aus..get your facts and records right..
When is he going to retire? Dravid's has batting has been on the decline for sometime now. He must be feeling the heat now with Ganguly announcing his retirement now.

DRavid know when to decide. Let's leave him alone. He decided to quit the captaincy when he realized it's too much burden on him and effecting his batting. If any one who would have in his position wouldnt have taken such decision. Same thing will happen with respect to his retirement, He himself will know when to retire.

Batting! Did he really bat apart from one out of 1000 times. No reasons why he is ever selected. He always led India a slow start ans eventually a slow end thus a defeat. Of course apart from oe out of 1000 times. Then any child can do that if allowed to fail 1000 times.
Ganguly is an all time great player. He has always played with a lot of heart and ensured that Indians always held their head high. his one day batting skills gave him the name God of Off-side. I am yet to see a better Indian player who plays as good as he does on the offside.his test records never proved his batting abilities.but some of the knocks in recent times were awe-inspiring.We dont need heroes, but we need people who would call a spade a spade . There have been recent comments about juniors getting ready and all, the fact is there can never be another Ganguly . i am proud of you .With the 20/20 i am sure people would the 2/20 team playing test cricket.Media are big time creeps ,who have no shame and are responsible for his exit.Give the man a life atleast after he retires.
In this world of uncertainities especially in the world of Indian Cricket/Board anything will happen...even Ganguly will be called back by the BCCI and he may even agree to play again....(LOL) Only time will decide the rest 3 of the FAB 4
Finally Ganguly is going. Well, am sad that he has to retire, but he had to go sometime. It is high time Yuvraj is given a run of at least 10-15 tests. I think VVSLaxman's performance must be judged in this series and if he doesnt come up with a good performance, he should be given the boot too. We have Badrinath and Rohit Sharma who are more than capable players. When will they ever get a chance to play at the test level. I guess Rahul Dravid and Sachin can hang on for another couple of years. But BCCI must plan for their succession. The new batting fab 4 will be Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj and Dhoni, with Rohit and Badrinath being the backbone.

Yuvraj is the most over rated player in India. He can never succeed in tests , players like Raina , Rohit Sharma , Badrinath and Mohd Kaif have better hopes. Also , if Dhoni wasnt such a celebrity now, Parthiv Patel would have been in the team for the current series because of batting and keeping in longer version of game. Sehwag is the last of the great indian batsmen.

You cannot make fab four overnight. Sachin In both forms( 16000 12000 Runs) Dravid in Tests (10000 runs) Saurav in One day (11000 runs) Laxman in Tests (6000 rus).
In this category only Sehwag fits in both form. Dhoni is wktkeeper batsmen. Yuv raj fits in oneday variety only. After that Gambhir, Rohit, Badrinath & Virat has to prove themselves before even thinking of Fab four.
Thank you Saurav for your services to the indian cricket. We adored watching you as a batsman, captain. But all goods things comes to an end, so are you. We will cherish the moments you played your cricket, the clean sixes which even sachin was envy about. And I am sorry, I was also the one you wanted your exit sooner, because you had lost your relexes, your urge to score more.
Who is next, kaif, badri, yuvraj, jaffar, rohit.. Mr.saurav, who will you suggest.

One day we will probably see the president of BCCI also as the captain and player of the Indian team, once Mr Sharad Pawar retires and Tendulkar takes over.
