Robin Uthappa ?
by vsan on May 30, 2008 06:15 PM  Permalink

I am not sure why Robin Uthappa is there? S Dhawan, Badrinath or Asnodkar would have been a better choice. And they should have selected more new faces against Bangladesh. As far as Saurav is considered, it is sad, they are only considering his age criteria in excluding him, In recent times amongst the youngsters , only Rohit Sharma and Gambhir performed well, looks like the others are there just because they are young, And Saurav cannot be young anymore

All-rounder Yusuf Pathan and young left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha were on Friday rewarded for their good showing in the Indian Premier League [Images] as the selectors announced a young 15-member squad for the forthcoming tri-series in Bangladesh and the Asia Cup in Pakistan.

Apart from the two new faces, the selection panel, headed by Dilip Vengsarkar, recalled seamer R P Singh, who replaces Munaf Patel [Images], a member of the squad that won the tri-series in Australia earlier this year.

Besides Patel, the selectors dropped Manoj Tiwary and Dinesh Karthik [Images] and ignored former captains Sourav Ganguly [Images] and Rahul Dravid [Images] again.

Sachin Tendulkar [Images] made himself unavailable for the two assignments as he has not recovered fully from a prolonged groin injury.

When you copy paste, at least remove the word [Images]... :-)

It clearly gives the game away..

Selectors are biased
by Medulla Oblangta on May 30, 2008 06:03 PM  Permalink

If selectors have considered IPL as criterion of form that on what basis Utthapa, Yuvraj, RP and Praveen Kumar has been given chance ahead of Dada, Dravid, Asnodkar, Dhawan, Venugopal, Badrinath, Gony and Munaf Patel. If they have considered IPL as criterion of fitness then why Rohit Sharma has been included inspite of the fact that he had to miss few matches due to injury. If both are incorrect then what is the basis of this selection?? This is simple example of "Chitt bhi meri, patt bhi meri, athanni mere baap ki".
