instead of robin uthappa, parthiv patel should have been better choice as he is not only a batsmen but also a excellent wicket keeper to give some coshion to dhoni

My heart goes to Manoj Tiwary and his family as Selectors given him very raw deal with Dhoni
by Kaushik Pal on May 30, 2008 05:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Just played one match in Aus Tri-series; Manoj Tiwary of Kolkata gets dropped from Indian ODI squad. I think like Dada refused to carry Azhar's bag in 1992, Manoj Tiwary has been victimised by Dhoni for some such silly thing. It is unfortunate for this right hander and marvellous fielder, who has performed better than the Rainas, Utthapas & Pathans in domestic cricket but overlooked just coz he comes from Kolkata. He is a class number 3 and could have blossomed into a great stroke-maker but for the politics in Indian team selection where the top guy gets raw deal just because he comes from Bengal (and he is not a Bengali).

Tiwary was a last minute addition for injured yuvraj singh. he was never in the reckoning for the top 15 players.. he has done nothing good in the IPL also for DDD.

Pathetic selection
by Rajesh Kumar on May 30, 2008 05:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is really sad that Ganguly and Dravid known for their good captaincy and batting have been left out again for the forthcoming ODI series. There is no logic in their ommission. I understand that young blood needs to be selected, but at the same time you cannot ignore both of these classy players. Ganguly has won more matches next to Sachin Tendulkar in ODI's for India and Dravid too has been a great asset. Remember Dravid had taken to wicket - keeping just to accomodate an extra batsman in the 2003 WC and that uis the reason we reached the finals. Just tell can any player in the current lot have the guts to do the same or sacrifice like this for the team. Dravid and Ganguly have done lot for the team but our selectors don't seem to understand the same. With just a few season left to retire for these legends, selectors should have chosen a honourable exit for them. They are simply not embarassing just those but even the game of cricket. Ganguly and Dravid's experience would have come really handy in Pakistan. How come Uthappa, Sreesanth and Yuvraj singh have been selected. Sreesanth is not fit for ODI cricket, yuvraj has been a big show-off and Uthappa is aan useless players. At least Gony and Badrinath should have been given a chance.

Why do we need these million dollar jokers Dhoni and company?.. ;-)

Uthappa? Check his current form.

Like Gangully & Dravid, Kapil Dev & Ravi Shastri had also done a lot for Indian cricket team. So shall we recall them too.

Just understand one thing mate...
ODI & T20 is about young & energetic blood & not for old horses who have already ran a lot.

If sacrifce was the case players like Ajay Jadeja, Novjyot Singh Siddhu, etc. too were sacrified when young Gangully's & Dravid's were accomodated in team few years ago...

Time to replace few more oldies

Oldies like - Yuvraj, Sehwag if they don't play well in coming series we have players like Abhishker Nayar, Gony, Asnodkar. and selecors should show courage to send these oldies out, if they don't play well and should show consistency other wise they 2 good innings and 10 bad will not be accepted now

Why so irritated? As for Yuvi, he hasn't done much except strutting about the field and blasting the sub prime RR attack in the last match...
Sehwag played well, but you can't deny he is 30 plus... by the token you blast Sachin, you should also blast Sehwag..

it is not easy to write off the oldies becuase experience that counts the most cannot be brought in the new faces, The young one's requires the guidenace of oldies to be settled in the team.
