Its been pathetic to see Laxman out of ODI's everytime, inspite he maintains his StrikeRate more than 60 in tests. In all the 3 matches he played aggressively and moreover scored fastly. If he can do that in tests, why cant in ODI's ? The selectors always have few parameters set for them selves. 1. Laxman - NEVER ODI Player 2. Ganguly - FAILS in one match (test r ODI) axe
The centuries made my laxman in ODI's have SR nearing to 90. Perhaps as you said he's not from those states.
there used to b days during 70s and 80s when a batsman scored many centuries against normal teams but his fate n class was decided once they faced the mightly pace attack of wi in wi. if they succeeded in facing wi, they were treated as greats. or else mediocre.
same way now, playing ausi in ausi is the litmus test.
dhoni n yuv have failed in this test n showed that they r all over-hyped players n not classy. so drop such players.
It doesnt matters what record a player has against an opposition, what that matters is the current form of the player. Sourav has a very poor record against the aussies. But that doesnt mean that he cant score against them now.He is in good touch now. He played with great comfort against quality attacks under pressure at a good strike rate recently. The recent pakistan test series brought a huge change in his style. Now he is batting with a strike rate of around 80 to 90 even in tests. What thay would be crucial was the opening partnership between saurav and sachin. If they fires at the start of the innings as usual then it would be easy for others to carry on other wise there would be a huge disaster since the other batsmen like uthappa, dhoni, yuvraj are nor good in their technique as saurav.
Most of our youngster dont have the right technique or guts to play good pacy attack in bouncy pitches. It was very clear in the recent odi series and tests against australia. Youngsters like dhoni, yuvraj, jaffer are complete failure in the aussie pitches. Even our tail enders like pathan, kumble, harbhajan, rp singh looks more confident than them. Dhoni should understand that there is a huge difference between T20 and ODI's.
Cricketing skills matters the most in test and odi matches than just athletism.Mere fielding will not give runs on board. Its good to have one or two fielders like yuvraj in the team, but choosing an entire team only on the basis of fielding abilities with cr

Why are you not protesting against the omission of Laxman, who has always performed well against Australia.....The reason is known to everyone.....Laxman is not from Bengal.

On the contrary, everyone is protesting against the axing of NOT ONLY Ganguly But Dravid and Laxman. But ofcourse Ganguly is having the focus and rightfully so bcoz He is undoubtedly the best batsman right now.
How about taking another line? Why don't u think this way that Why Sachin was not axed with dravid, Ganguly and Laxman as the selectors saying that they want young Blood, not seniors anymore? I tell u what, bcoz sachin is from Mumbai.
So stop shouting fuss and face the truth. Stop provincialism.

Dear readers, The Indian team selectors r the most useless persons right now.....they selected young team for the one day...then why did not select a young team for facing the test matches....they should have selected raina and others for test team....India would have lost all test matches in 2 days....and eaten the shit....Its always they say a reason, that they want to prepare team for world cup.....the same selection team selected team for world cup with greg chappel...WE WERE BEATEN LIKE A RAT.... First ask them to respect the players who have served u for these long years,,,and then select.....I observe that none of the selectors are good enough...they have done nothing for thier country...MY REQUEST TO GANGULY,DRAVID AND LAXMAN IS THAT PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ DONT GIVE UP....PROVE TO UR ENEMIES(SELECTORS) THAT THEY R ONLY SITTING IN AN "AC" ROOM AND SELECTING THE TEAM IS EASY...BUT TO PERFORM ITS DIFFICULT....COME ON TIGERS ROAR BACK STRONGLY...WE ALL R WITH U..JAI HIND
D.B.Vengsarkar may think now to bring back Vinod Kambli, Ajith Agarkar & Sanjay Manjrekar for the 2011 World Cup. Sourav & Rahul would change their names like Sourav Gangulkar & Rahul Dravidkar to be in the team for the 2011 WC. Greg Chappel has already changed his name as Greg Chappelkar & he was appointed as a Coach for the 2011 WC.
1. Netaji has fought for the freedom of India (which also includes Bengal) 2. Our national anthem was written by Rabindra Nath Tagore (who was a Bengali) 3. Of the few noble prizes that we have, most of them are Bengali.
My question now is why are you guys behaving like Bengal is a part of Bangladesh rather than India. If Bangla is so important, why don't you guys merge with Bangladesh, at least you will have all the bengali's playing in you cricket and football teams.

excuse me sir...what do you mean to say? We know we are indians first then a bengali or a gujrati etc...what we say now is that dropping of Mr Ganguly at this juncture when he has performed shows utter disrespect to a great cricketer. Also what does his omission convey. That when you reach 32 howsover good you are, you have to retire. Then let us fix a retirement age for cricket, right now Mr Alex.

Mr Mallick, Have u seen the test match at Perth. Have u seen the limping Ganguly running behind the ball and giving easy runs to the Australians. Ganguly is not fit and if selected will get injured in between the tour. ODI Cricket is a game where fitness is the utmost requirement, if someone is not fit, he should be culled like the poor chickens in your state. Well done selectors.

U know, Ganguly can not fight or write like Netaji or Tagore and they cant play cricket like Ganguly. But all these three did their job up to their best and be an optimistic always

Mr Powell if Bengal wanted it could taken recourse as per your advice in 1905 when the independence of the province was first mooted.Point is not Ganguly as a persona. The protest is against injustice.Ganguly only happens to be a Bengali.Again why if a Mokherjee or Bose stands up for Ganguly it is considered regionalism and not when a Maharastrian speaks for Tendulkar(as seen in this forum)or a southie speaks for Laxman. Why does not one suggest that a TN should merge with Sri Lanka north when A Tamilian supports a Karthik in this forum? After all since independence in Bengal we never have had a regional party in power unlike TN,AP,Punjab,Assam,J&K ,HP etc..Does that not display whose thinking is regional and whose is not?
Jumbo you have hit the nail on the selectors head for sure. They cannot victimise you the way they have done Dravid.Cricket isn't played only on the field but also in the mind.No other team and place is a better example than one of OZ.By playing on the mind of Dravid you may have taken out a bit of his performance. But I am sure that Dravid will bounce backBy trying to accommodate youngsters like Yuvaraj in the team you have sacrificed Dravid at the openers slot.Look at the performance of Yuvi in the two tests he has played.Dhoni hasn't done well in front of the wickets as he is expected to do except in the last test.A good blend of youth and experience is what brings success in ODI's.50over game is different from 20-20 match. You should recall as to how the Three greats withdrew gracefully from the selection process of 20-20 squad after the England tour.Dravid is of the kind who would gracefully retire if he isn't doing well in any format and he would realise it on his own.Common Dravid prove them wrong as you have done earlier.
a) Change his last name to Gangulkar b) Abuse Jaggu Da 100 times at least c) Touch the feet of Sharad Pawar 1000 times d) Buy a nice gift for Vengsarkar Da

ya ya why not... we all should let saurav ganguli play as much as he wants...neways everybody retires at 60 here.n dont these selectors know that he is from calcutta...how sad...poor prince of calcutta...He is soo good he can play for ever.

Niranjan, Power should also leave the place to make way for newcomers. BCCI is not the place for dirty politics, favourism, regionalism, etc. My chambal is better than current BCCI in all respect...why dont u accept it dumbos

Wherever there is power there is politics,n ur right but selectors have done well here by keeping in mind the current series which is gona be played on huge grounds where ur out cricket like running between the wicket and fielding is equally important.when will we talk about the game which we all love n not about factors like star players n politics u tell me.

People here are worshiped more than their art...Cricket badi nahi Yaha Ganguli n Sanchin bade he n how can selectors even dare to keep their out of team...
