seniors vs juniors
by on Jan 24, 2008 04:11 AM  | Hide replies

People should grow up and understand that this is a professional sport, not school cricket to include players just because they are seniors. players who are not physically fit and do not add value in the long run or inspire the younger generation do not deserve a place in the team. Tendulkar is a senior and nobody wants him out of the team. Start thinking like professionals.

Eh Mr.by, today only you have signed up opening a new id to write to this forum. First you grow up and then advise people to grow up. What is your point? Had you grown up enough then u would not have said that only Tendulkar deserves as senior, not Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman. Just go through the performance of these socalled youngstars and u will yourself see the precarious records. Don't drive yourself with biased and prejudiced attitude.

I agree to what you have written but the article here is about timing.
Question is cant the retarded BCCI wait for a few days before announcing the team?

Or they could have announced a 24 member team and then dropped the seniors later.

BCCI is filled with paan-chewing political morons who should be in some mental hospital.

The latest addition is the parliment-discarded- elephant Mr.Srikantadatta Wodeyar, who is now the president of KSCA!

you people are are understanding that it is not board who dropped it is the Captain of ODI team who insisted them to be dropped the board would never had Idea about this hence they decided to select the team early and when the contacted the captain who to their shock and inability to safeguard these player because they had to give weightage to the champion team's captain

I totally agree with you.
I think selecters should ask Dhoni to sit for few matches because his performance is also not at all good in the last many matches(ODI/Test). Once Dhoni sits out side the field then He will come to know.
But we cant help it. Here "Jiski laathi uski bhains" so, now laathi is in Dhoni hands.

What is your point?
Does Ganguly deserve to be dropped only because he is senior?
Are juniors in the team better performers!
Be logical.
Don't jump like a joker. Think like a professional. See what Chappel More Dungarpur has done to Indian cricket.
Dhoni Niru and company are committing same blunder may be at the instance of the bookies or sponsorers. Money is playing a big role and logic has taken a back seat.

come on, it is performance that counts, people are talking about age in all professions except politics. how can we allow senile leaders like karunanidhi, karunakaran, jyothi basu and vajpayee to still run our country. it is high time we had a serious debate on retire age to politiicans

xclusion of seniors
by indian talent on Jan 24, 2008 03:10 AM  | Hide replies

dhoni is keen on getting rid of seniors who r threat to his captaincy. I dont think this dumb headed will survive long in international cricket, his present form speaks for him. he is forgetting that he needs quality players to win 50 over matches against teams like australia. this is not a masala 20-20, hope that gets into his dumb head

u r right, he(Dhoni) is actually thinking about his captaincy, now he is failling with bat, so if senior stay in team & perform well, his captaincy may be in danger. so he is trying to get ride of all sr good payer phase wise.

BCCI = moron mela
by JM on Jan 24, 2008 02:46 AM  | Hide replies

Any half-educated nitwit would know that this was not a good time to announce the team for ODI.

If BCCI wanted to inform the other team members, they could have always announced a 24 member team, included all seniors and

BCCI should ideally be run by experienced cricketers and business graduates. Instead it is run by paan-chewing political morons!

The latest addition to this BCCI moron-mela is the elephant- Srikantadatta Wodeyar who after losing his elections to parliament is now the head of KSCA!

Or they could have announced two teams in the beginning, like you mention 24 (or 16) member squads. Or they could have kept 2 slots for batsmen and 1 bowler slot open to fill based on current form. Thus someone like Ganguly or Laxman could still have had a chance to be part of 16.

Anyway, the selection is always a controversial process when so many good players are around. One can never satisfy everybody - be it players, media or the fans!

Fielding
by Sameer Bhagwat on Jan 24, 2008 01:45 AM  | Hide replies

Fielding is become the No1 priority in ODIs now. If you give away 20-40 runs everytime in the field and don't get run outs, chances are you will lose the match. The selectors are right, the only question is do the youngsters have it them to score a Century? thats left to be seen..

But think of it this way, with Yuvraj,Raina,Uthhapa, Sharma and Karthik in the field 40 runs can surely be saved. So we cna chase 260 instead of 300.

Ganguly exclusion
by kshitij tumbde on Jan 24, 2008 12:36 AM  | Hide replies

I think Dhoni and Yuvraj consider Ganguly as a threat to their captaincy should they not do well in Australia and if Ganguly does well. Ganguly proved by performance last year that he was second best after Sachin, going by the form.

Dhoni and Yuvraj both have failed miserably in Australia and they seemed to have taken some action of Ganguly personally. It does not make sense to leave all seniors out except Sachin. Youngsters should be given opportunity but they should be made to earn their spot. 1-2 or 3 at the most from playing XI can be youngsters.

Before World cup during press interview somebody was asking sourav about player of the series. That time without hesitation said it would be Dhoni, and he also appreciated yuvi. For that statement now he recieved the new year gift from them. This is really enigmatic. Will Vengsarkar have the guts to drop Sachin from team? He won't do that because he is also a mumbaikar.

Fact: Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid opted out
Fact: Indians senselessly squabble amongst themselves

Why do I sense that few people here actually ever comment on the article itself. Rediff discussion board always seems to have some comment or other about bihari, bengali, muslim, hindu. Lord save us. If selection and exlusion can divide us, what progress are we talking about.
Advice to all you dividers along caste, creed lines etc. Please at least read the article. I however feel that most of you do not have IQ. Please read and comment on the article.

P.S: I happen to be bengali and yet I find no need to bring about the ganguly debate here. Simply because the article does not speak about it. Please grow up!!

Squabble away. Pitiful
