Selectors

The selectors are saying that they need youngsters for future. If that is true why they have not tried the same in the test matches also? According to me the selectors should utilise the seniors to the maximum, since they are going to be retired soon. We should not try fully with youngsters in an important and prestigious tour like Australian. Another matter they have not having guts to drop Sachin from One-day team, since he is also going to retire soon

Yuvraj & Dhoni are responsible
by The Saviour of India on Jan 23, 2008 01:22 PM  | Hide replies

1. Yuvraj and Dhoni are undoubtedly behind the Great Dada Axe.
2. There are certain non cricketing reasons behind the whole issue.
3. The GREATTTT performances of Dhoni and Yuvraj in the current Test Series are open secrets now. They are not able to swallow the all round gigantic contribution of the veterans.

4. The techincal capabilities of Great Dhoni and Yuvi are poorly exposed too.

5. What if India is battered in the ODIs. How many time will BCCI and Dhoni eat the humble pie and recall Dada. God Knows about these Dogs.

DHONI HAS UNNECESSARILY TOOK A FOOLISH DECISION ONLY TO HIT HEADLINES - AS FOR QUITE SOMETIME HE WAS OUT OF FOCUS AND MIGHT BE LOOSING HIS VALUE IN ENDORSEMENT MKT.
DHONI HAS NOW BUILT ALL THE PRESSURE OF THE WORLD ON HIS OWN HEAD AND MAY FIND IT DIFFICULT TO HANDLE IT IN NEAR FUTURE. HIS FATE MAY BE SAME AS DRAVID!
HAD GANGULY & DRAVID BEEN IN THE SIDE AND INDIA LOST TO AUSSIES HELL WOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN LOOSE ON DHONI BUT NOW THE SAME WILL HAPPEN IF INDIA LOOSE ( WHICH BY CRICKETING LOGIC MORE LIKELY)! POOR STRATEGIST - NOT A CAPTAIN MATERIAL, LACKS MATURITY!

We have lost home one-day series against Ausies with Ganguly playing.
Test form has nothing to do with Oneday ability.
Ranking of Indians on Current form.
Sachin- 7th rank
Yuvraj-12
Dhoni--17
Dravid-24
Sehwag-39
Ganguly-45
Young plaers are not ranked as they have not played enough matches

BOARD'S WICKET
by VILAS EKBOTE on Jan 23, 2008 01:15 PM

ITS BEEN ALWAYS THAT THE BOARD LIKE TO HAVE UPPER HAND OVER THE PLAYERS, AS USUAL. SO ALL THESE UGLY METHODS ARE ADOPTED BY THEM TIME AND AGAIN TO PUT THE BALL IN PLAYER'S COURT. ALTHOUGH, SUPPORTING TEAM IN BHAJJI CASE WAS AN EXCEPTIONAL MOVE BY THE BOARD, WHO CAME UNDER GLOBAL-PRESSURE TO DO SO. THE SELECTION COULD HAVE BEEN DONE COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR TO THE ODI, BUT THE BOARD HAS DELIBERATELY ANNOUNCED IT EARLIER AND THAT TOO, FIRING FROM DHONI'S SHOULDER. I MUST SAY THAT THE PLAYERS ARE PLAYING CRICKET AND THE BOARD IS TAKING THEIR WICKET.

Timing of selection
by Madhusudhan N.R. on Jan 23, 2008 01:15 PM  | Hide replies

If you look at it, the first ODI starts on Feb 3rd. The Adelaide test ends on Jan 28th. This means, the selectors had not much choice, since the players that are selected need adequate time to prepare for a trip to Australia. Probably visas also need to be arranged by BCCI. They also would need at least 10 days to tune up mentally... so many factors are involved which we tend to ignore while criticizing the selectors. If the gap between Test and ODIs was more, probably they would have waited till end of the last test... Give the devils their due :-D

you are right. but the point is how much dhoni and yuvraj are resoponsible for Ganguly's and dravid's exit. only time will tell us, whether it was right decision. Both yuvi and dhoni, i feel, must be envying senior players because inspite of trying to perform best (which is becoming worst nowdays) they are not able to compete with seniors..... looks like old is gold!!!

Time beeing.... i feel sorry for both players who got cut by scissor made of yuvi and dhoni.

U r right Mr.Madhusudhan - team selection cannot be done after the finishing of Adelaid Test the time will be very less. But they have culd have done one thing when u were sure that ODI team will be separate and Test team will be separate then they culd have chosen the ODI team along with the Test team so then there will be no problems for anybody. That is the professionalism we lack. The English Board had announced both the Test and ODI teams for there tour to Newzealand and that too well in advance. That is the professionalism of the ECB which is lacked by BCCI. Some of the decisions taken by the BCCI are ridiculous. Don't they know before the test series started that Ganguly is a poor fielder and poor runner between the wickets then why u keep the decision pending till the last moment and that too before an important test which you have to win badly to level the series? Yes, everybody would say they are professionals and shd cope with these things but come on after all they are also human being only and not gods.
