Dada, you are simply great..I will admire you till i will exist in this earth.. YOu are real fighter..
You are the only batsman who have shown real fight and guts in Melbourne test. No Body has really given you support form other end. We know, if you would have got support, a classical hundred wud have gift to us..Dont woory, play ur natural game.. you will be winner in Australia soil too.
Dont woory about some regional cricket fans, their brains are dead, they wont apprciate you anytime. They only like to see IDLI to perform, if he fails, with due frustation they will abuse you.. dont woory, we are with you.

DHoni is envious of Ganguly, since DADA scored runs in Australia and Dhoni struggled to get bat to the ball.

T20 success has gone to Dhoni's head. He has become arrogant.

I really appreciate for the love and concern you have for the Dada, really Dada is x-tra ordinary one day player, no one can be comparable with him and no player can take his role. I love Dada and praying for him to come back to the odi and hope very soon situation will be changed. let Dada shine among all and spring up in the minds of selectors.

Hey duddu... stop ur anti mumbai gossip dude. Everyone knows what sachin has given to the country, may be u were sleeping all these days. I'm from south Ind... and I like dada, dravid, sachin, laxman and kumble. Doesn't make any difference as long as these guys are performing. Now stop barking about northi and southi. Dont try and divide the country... fools like should be kicked out of sight.

Right selection wrong timing!
by surya ginti on Jan 23, 2008 03:18 PM

The time of the selection maybe wrong but the selection is spot on. India needed a younger and fitter team as now a days ODI is less skill based and more about brute strength and fitness. In the last ODI series the Aussies whipped India with a 3-2 series win. The score would suggest it was a close fight, but those who followed those matches know well that India was annhilated in that series with Aussies winning with such huge margins that it was one sided games. The score could well have been 4-1 had India not won the last match in Mumbai, where the Aussie bowlers have sent the Indian batsmen back into the pavalion and it was Zaheer and Murali (who was actually out but was not given) who saved India. And that was in India, to continue with the same side and hope to win in Australia against Aussies would have been wishful thinking. So the selectors needed to make some changes, which they did. They have gone for a younger side with more all rounders (the need for today's ODIs). In doing so they have left out Ganguly who is a poor filder and very bad with running between the wickets, ditto Laxman. Dravid is not in the best of forms and is very slow in building his innings right now so he doesn't fit into the current game plan. Also since its the captains head which is at stake if the team wins or loses, he should have full freedom to chose the team he likes and if he wants to go for younger team so be it. But he has to perform, that is the bottom line.

What about the poor performance of Dhoni?
by govidmurali rathish on Jan 23, 2008 03:16 PM  | Hide replies

In test matches played overseas excluding Bangladesh , Dhoni has scored only 492 runs at an average of 28.94 in the last 10 tests comparing to his career average of 36.68. This indicates that he surely needs to be dropped. This is a dismal record taking into account that he is largely tipped as a future captain of the test team. The fact is that his good look has just made people forget his bad record.
He surely needs to have a break from the test team so that he think about his way of playing in tests. I dont think it is possible because he is the ODI and T20 skipper. But some knee-jerk decisions should be taken.

Talking about Yuvraj Singh, the '6 out of 6' boy also has a very bad record in games played away from home. In the last ten test matches played away from home, he has scored only 317 runs with the batting average dipping to 24.38 comparing to his career average of 34.68. This suerly indicates that he needs to be dropped.

Coming to Dinesh Karthik now, Karthik has scored 366 runs at an average of 40.66 in the 6 matches he has played overseas excluding Bangladesh comparing to his career average of 32.10. THIS INDICATES CLEARLY THAT IT WAS A BAD TACTIC TO DROP HIM.

Talking about the grizzly right hand batsman from Tamilnadu, he has an average of 58.10 in the 61 First class matches he has played. He has 15 hundreds to his name in first class cricket.

I think that the test cricket surely needs to separated from other forms based on selection.

let's not wash dirty linen in the open, one thing is certain that is the timing of the selection announcement and the axing of all at a time it could have been gradual

T20 is not really a cricket, It is just gambling, you can win it with school level player also. Dont compare 2020 with ODI or Test Match.

Ganguly preparing for devastation!
by Vijayan on Jan 23, 2008 03:02 PM

With the humiliation meted out to him that man known for his strong mettle, is bound to come hard in the Adelade Test, we are waiting for some devastation from Ganguly and if luck favours, a great knock will come from Mr. Ganguly's bat!
What a fight it will be Aussies and Ganguly both charged up for different reasons!
