Great win! A few thoughts, all my own
by Srinivasan Krishna on Jan 20, 2008 03:13 PM

I thought the Indian team played exceptionally well to win the 3rd Test.
It is good to feel elated, but remember the opposition has won 16 tests in a row!
I think there was some sort of backfire type pressure on the aussies.I was very much surprised at the way they batted in the 1st innings. Without taking anything away from Irfan, RP , Ishant and Kumble i felt they batted in a cavaliar fashion. If you see the dismissals of Hussey & clark you tend to get a feeling that they did not apply themselves.
Few key thoughts.
- the margin of victory small indeed. if Gilchrist had remained, the script may have been different. They scored 340 runs in the second innings, when they were under severe pressure!
- Learn, how to chase in the last innings! learn from the sprit of the Australians! We invariably buckle under pressure and make the proceedings a damp Squib.
- Kumble ran to pick up the stump, after the last wicket fell, but did not see the outstreched hand of umpire Asad rauf. Hope he shook hands with him afterwards.
- Next test will a real test of charecter for both teams. while the Australians have nothing much to prove except, regain some lost pride, we have every thing to play for! We need to show the Perth win is not an one off!
- we will have Hayden contend with!
- We have an history of winning a test then promptly losing the next.
- Even a Draw is a honourable result!
All the very best men, keep it up!

by saroj senapati on Jan 20, 2008 03:09 PM

It's a terrible behaviour of board to Ganguly. Right now who is in his pick form, how he is out of one day squad.it's unbelievable. We hate our Board. This is nothing but a politics.

FEW PEOPLE KNOW THE PACT MADE BETWEEN CA, ICC & BCCI
by Underground Underworld on Jan 20, 2008 12:50 PM  | Hide replies

TO NEUTRALISE THE 'SYDNEY' EFFECT, THE ABOVE NAMED ORGANISATIONS DECIDED THAT THE ONLY WAY TO CALM THE INDIAN NERVES (THAT TOO, MULTI-MILLIONS) AND TO ENSURE THAT THE MONEY BAGS DO NOT GET EMPTY, AND TO EYE-WASH THE ISSUE, SO THAT THE GREAT CRICKETING SUPER-POWER (INDIA) WILL CONTINUE TO HOLD ROOST, THE DEAL STRUCK WAS THIS :

(1) THAT IF AUSTRALIA SHOULD LOSE THE THIRD TEST.
(2) THAT PONTING & CO SHOULD PLAY THE GAME IN THE SPIRIT, INSPITE AND DESPITE OF ACCEPTING THE AGREEMENT TO LOSE.

(3) THAT ONCE THE INDIAN SENTIMENTS ARE COOLED DOWN, THEY CAN PLAY THEIR NATURAL GAME, AND GO ON TO WIN THE SERIES IN THE 4TH.

(4) THE INDIAN TEAM WERE NOT TO BE INFORMED ABOUT THIS ARRANGEMENT.

FINALLY, IT WAS THE WAS CRICKET AUSTRALIA, THE INTERNTIONAL COUNCIL AND THE BOARD OF CCI'S DICTAT THAT RULED AND BROUGHT ABOUT THE RESULT.

THIS DOES NOT TAKE AWAY THE HARD FOUGHT AND WON CREDIT THAT INDIA DESERVES, BUT THE LEEWAY WAS IN ORDER TO PLACATE A VOLOTILE SITUATION OF INDIA WITHDRAWING FROM THE TOUR.

NOW THAT THE INDIANS ARE SATISFIED : THEY WON 'ONE' TEST, AND PREVENTED THE 17TH RUN TROT OF AUSTRALIA, THEY NOW ARE SATISFIED. LEAVE ASIDE THAT THEY WILL LOSE THE SERIES AND THE GAVASKAR-BORDER TROPHY.

ANYWAY, THIS IS NOT NEWS FROM THE GRAPEVINE. YOU WILL SEE THE RESULT IN THE 4TH.

THERE ARE MANY STRINGS PULLED ON ALL SIDES.

DROPPING CHARGES AGAINST HOGG WAS ALSO PART OF THE PACT.

NEXT,BAJJI WILL GO SCOT FREE.

THIS IS CRICKET POLITICS FOR U.

by villivalam padmanaban on Jan 20, 2008 12:48 PM

ricky now he should understand after his deafeat.only acb should dicipline their cricketers and gurantee to that effect. nothing else to talk. the way they played now a best umpire like steve becknor is out. it is entirely because of bad spirit of cricket played by australians. they r not only putting pressure on visiting teams but they put terrific pressure on umpires. the icici has rewiew and put proper conusillars other than australians and advisive the acb to advise the players to keep the spirit of the game and it should not given to ricky ponting to talk to that level.it means the acb is in cappable r they r slaves of ricky and his men. such kind of cricket will never be accepted by allan border r steve waugh r by greg chappell.the icici should get opinion from mr.feleming the former nz captain in stead of appointing ajugde from newzeland.fleming is the formost judge than any body else because i admiring him because one of the finest cricketer who respects sportsmenship in cricket

INDIA WINS

THE WAY INDIAN WIN IS BEING CELEBRATED SHOWS HOW LOW SELF ESTEEM INDIAN TEAM AND ITS FANS HAVE. THOSE WHO WIN VERY RARELY OR WITH FLUKE CELEBRATE MORE. THE WHOLE EUPHORIA ACTUALLY JUSTIFIES THE DESH DROHI'S.

The problem here is that our ignominious exit from World cup and then 4-2 drubbing by Australia in the most recent home series has been completely forgotten by this win. The problem with we Indians is that we over celebrate small achievement. The fact is that Australians were not in the match before the first ball was bowled.
