Kumble's stewardship
by allapichai allapichai on Jan 19, 2008 10:09 PM

Kumble today was man at the centre point. His captaincy was instrumental in India's victory. His handling the bowling changes, particularly the deployment of Sehwag who took two wickets, was quite timely. His decision to bat after winning the toss was not well received by the commentators particularly Sunil Gavaskar. But the pitch played true to its character on the second day. All the players contributed to the victory. Dravid and Laxman with the bat and almost all the bowlers, particularly, the man of the match Irfan Pathan and the find of the tour Ishant Sharma rose to the occasion. This is really the team.

it's a team effort. no doubt about that. but when evry news channel is listing out names of those who are responsible for this victory like kumble pathan laxman etc. considering the fact that india won only by 72 runs, it is a pity no one remembers the 93 contributed by dravid. it was the highest score by any individual in this match and that was really crucial in giving india the lead in 1st innings. wasn't it?

Leave all these Stories. LAXMAN is king of indian cricket. Due to his 79 contribution. India won the match in 72 runs. Playing in pressure where batsman lke Dravid(3), Tendulkar(13) and Gaguly(0) got out, Laxman saved Indian team. Think about situation, where laxman played very very special. Anybody can bat in first innings without pressure.

Pathan is great plyaer this match. Really wonderful. but that does not entitle one person to post messages that suggest 'all other 10 players are dishonest and play for India'

Aussie never thought lightning will strike twice
by Aussie Ki Taise on Jan 19, 2008 10:04 PM  | Hide replies

first time it strucked in year 2001 and now in year 2008- stopping their 17th win a row twice

another one

last time aussie lost a test match on their home soil is 5 years back...that was against india in adelaide in year 2003 and now 5 years later ...it was the same india which beat them in year 2008

so aussie shud realize that lightning do struck twice

and last but not least..no team from sub continent had won a test match in perth.

the negative point is

indians showed their inability to finish off the innings early..u cant give 70 odd runs to tailenders...next time dont show mercy ...finish the aussies wen u got the chance
