Scrap the D/L rule
by atul mahori on Feb 12, 2008 09:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Instead of blaming the bowlers or Dhoni, this idiotic rule must be blamed which is making a mockery of cricket. If you go through the match, a match which is supposed to be of 50 overs a side gets reduced to just 21 overs for Srilanka. If you go by the results of T20 then you can find that this score is easily gettable. So actually the rule is the main problem. There must be a minimum limit for the no. of overs to be bowled.

In some sense i also feel dhoni is right... This kind of situations not only affected india
but affected others also. It alwyas hurts the moral of the losing team. What i feel is the point
sharing structure can be modifiedto give better justice to both the teams. No doubt, the present
DL method is far better than the methods used in earlier days. But we can further improve it.

1. If there is no reduction in overs after the bigining of match (irrespective of no. of overs) then
winning team - 8 (with out bonus ) or 10 (with bonus)
      losing team - 0 points

2. If the number of overs reduced by 1 to 20% of the overs decided before the start of the match
winning team - 7 (with out bonus ) or 9 (with bonus)
      losing team - 1 points

3. If the number of overs reduced by 21 to 40% of the overs decided before the start of the match
winning team - 6 (with out bonus ) or 8 (with bonus)
      losing team - 2 points

4. If the number of overs reduced by 41 to 60% of the overs decided before the start of the match
winning team - 5 (with out bonus ) or 7 (with bonus)
      losing team - 3 points

Sreesanth comparing to McGrath a big joke..!!!
by bhanu prakash on Feb 12, 2008 09:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is nonsense to compare sreesanth to glenn mcgrath who had 99.99% success in every match he played and its clear from todays performance that sreesanth cannot be compared to even stuart clarke..there is no control in line & lenght only pace n swing wont work...may be u get away sometimes but players like jayasurya will remind him what ability he has..?? just saying beware australia i am coming...get ur self battered against srilanka..instead he shud have said beware common wealth series participants..i m cumming with fear

It is not just one match that Sreesanth bowled badly. His overall economy rate is close to 6 which is poor by any means. In fact he bowls well once in 4-5 games and totally inconsistent but behaves as if he is the greatest bowler in the world. We need bowlers who can be relied to deliver. He should first learn to perfect his art before talking arrogantly. He should learn a few lessons from Ishant Sharma on how to be aggressive without making a mockery of self.

@CricFan01.
Advice for you guys. Just imagine Sreesanth is not bowling, if that hurts you so much to see him bowl.
He is a rank bad bowler according to you, so stick to your opinion.
As for Ishant, even he got hammered in the last match against Australia. The difference was that it was a full 50 over match, so Aussies couldn't keep taking chances in every over, whereas here it was a 20-20 situation.
What if Ishant had caught Dilshan when he hit Sreesanth for six? The ball just plopped on the rope, inches away from Ishant's stretching fingers.
Is that bad bowling, and huge thumping from Dilshan? No sir, it's just one of those days.
So forget it, and move on to watch the upcoming contests..

Dhoni Lacks Experience
by bhanu prakash on Feb 12, 2008 09:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dhoni lacks experience as ishant was having 3 overs remaining under his sleeve when it was last 7 overs to be bowled with more than run a ball..instead he given to sreesanth who has already gone for 37 of 02 overs..why..?? dint he want india to win or his brain was melting under pressure..its here where experience counts not exhuberance of youth works everywhere..accepting the mistakes is another problem with him instead of blaming others agree u have played poorly..or just say we had a bad day in the field

Nothin but arrogance

Dhoni should accept defeat gracefully rather than looking for excuse. In fact, Sri Lankan batsmen won the match. They played better than us.

He is not making excuses. What he said was true. Probably he could have said SL performed a miracle which is exactly what they did. he can not be criticising the bowlers in public. He has to be on their side.

blame ourselves
by jacob sajith on Feb 12, 2008 09:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

the srilanks had to score 7 per over & we have to blame ourselves for allowing them to free their arms.

all our bowlers were a mere shadow of what they were aganist aussie.

was it a bit over confidence after win . . .

it was a very good opporunity to earn more points & we may regret later for this loss may

Hey Jacob:
7 runs per over, but for how long? Just 21 overs. That's nothing in today's world mate.
Have you heard of 20-20? Scores of 150 are routine there.
If the so-called bad Indians can score 105 in the last 10 against Sri Lanka (in their last washed out match), why do you think 154 in 21 is fantastically difficult?
Do you think scoring 16 runs in 2 overs is more difficult (coz its at 8 runs per over) than scoring 154 in 21?
It's all about how much risk can the batters take. SL took the risk, it paid off, they are happy, you are not.
If Jayasuriya had gone Sangakkara's way, SL would have been 50 for 5 or something, and you would have been very happy.
It's just one of those days, move on and enjoy the upcoming contests..

It was just like a Jaysurya fluke, like Shewag does some time. Any of the boundaries scored by Jasurya may be caught on another day (like Shewag was caught today).
