Rahul Dravid. Is he the right captain of India at the moment?
Even if India has won the current Test series in England, does it mean that he is the right choice? With Greg Chappell no longer associated with the Indian team, was it not a good idea to give the captaincy back to the country's most successful captain, Sourav Ganguly?
Ganguly has shown that he can lift the team with his captaincy alone. The aggression that was an integral part of his captaincy seems to be missing. The innovative field placings and bowling changes are areas where Rahul has shown weakness. He is also not the sort of a captain who can raise his voice when a youngster is not performing.
Dravid's stats with the bat make interesting reading:
India in West Indies - 496 runs at an average of 82-plus; India in South Africa - 6 innings for 125 runs at 21; India in Bangladesh - 3 innings for 192 runs at 64; India in England - 3 innings for 48 runs at 16 (not including the current match); As captain, he is not as successful with the bat. By making him skipper, India have made the mistake of 'losing' their best batsman in recent times. With Dravid as a batsman, India have won overseas Tests more regularly than before (he has actually shown more consistency than Tendulkar). His batting is affected by the captaincy. He is able to settle down at the crease, but not able to carry an innings because of lack of concentration. And his catching has also gone down a notch.

I agree with you. It will be a positive step but there is chance of ego problem in the team. Again all these three masters are little aged and may serve India for a short time. So better to give captaincy to Yubraj. Actually the tradition is that after Maharaj(nick name of Sourav Ganguli) the throne of kingdom to be awarded to Yubaraj.

The decesion Dravid made at 3 rd test not giving follown to england is not that bad as people speak out.yes its not good though, but still i can say who ever would have been thire in dravids position 100% sure that they would have taken same short of thinking that sereis winning alwyas priority than match winning. Yes Dravid would have taken this kind of risk if india would have keep on winning overseas sereis so frequently.. I stand by dravids decesion
Good thisng that Sachin, Saurav and Rahul are out of it, let the yougsters get some chances to prove theier worth, we don't have a rotation policy which is why we're terrible...WE have a good chance at 20-20 at #8...
Yes the way he batted in the last two games, its evident that he can still smash bowlers around. But selectors had decided to rest him seeing his previous form - that is the WC , Bangla tour and his new style of batting slowly.
it wud be more apprpriate to make dravid as test team coach and leave captaincy atonce, indian team can now win without him, make ganguly again captain... ankit khanna

hi i will also accept your words ,make ganguly captain again, because he is in form and he knows how to build and make the thinks work. select a field coach like johnty rodes by paying him huge remuneration.it will help the feature team a good side. we lake in field only. say suppose agarkar puts 5 balls in half side with out giving runs and next ball he will put in leg side so altemately 4 runs. if we have a good fielder like kaif who will stop. so the next over agarkar have a chance to take a wicket.or in negative side agarkar will think first not to bowl fuller length. wickets we can take mostly on the loose balls.
so thinks for feature team and start building now.

I dont think Rahul Dravid would prove a good captain in tests as well. You need to lead a team, motivate the guys and bring out the best in them. I guess, if Ganguly was the captain in this English Tour, we would have won tests @-0 and would have by now wrapped up the ODI series as well. Not to take away any credit from Dravid but surely he is not as imaginative and definitely not as agressive as Ganguly.

We do not want to loose Rahul as a member of Indian cricket team. But it will be better if he is removed from captaincy. It is better not only for our country but also for himself.

Definitely Ganguly is better than Rahul for captaincy. Because of Chappell, team India lost the winning ways and done miserably in the WC. We should in fact appoint Mohinder Amarnath as the coach. He is the best choice.
