dravid is comitted professional team player won't say no to open innings but it is unfair to ask dravid to make a slot for yuvraj dravid did opening in pakistan when ganguly was not ready to open. dravid's average as a No 3 batsman is above 56 while as opener as 34 and against aussies 51. team had ganguly sewag and tendulkar three operners and none of them to come forward to open innings so that yuvi can accomodate. why cant sachin or ganguly can't open innigns so tha yuvraj can play at not 5 or 6. both superstars wanted to open in odis so that easy to build innings wihout any pressure of runrate and more balls to face but in test new ball with shine and morning dues on bouncy hard green pitch very difficult to face the fast bowling but after some over balls will loose shining and batting will be easy. in 3 tests against pak, team lost first wkt when score was less than double figutes.dravid along with jafar consolidated the innings and scored runs and prepared a comfortable plat form for middle order to carry batting easily dravid will pefrom as per team requirement can bat at any no. a perfect commeted team player why can't superstars play opeing in test also Mike Hussey's comments on Dravid
There he has showered rich laurels on Dravid's capability to bat and excel in any position be it opening or in number ten position. These comments show the worth of Dravid and his value to Indian team ..
"Sometimes it is difficult for touring teams as soon as they get

This is a two side story. Madam study one side but this is fact, in pakistan tour first time Ganguly was not agree as a test opener but as per team need, Ganguly was agreed. But 1st morning( Test match) Chappel and Dravid was decided that he( Dravid) will open the innings and he scored 100. Please varify.

If you die hard fan of dravid, then believe saurav is a great batsman because this was quoted by dravid..
But if you do not believe in above statement, then dravid is a selfish oopurtunist who spoke such things so that dada could accomodate him into ODI team.. ha ha ha

What strategy should India employ for the next match? ndip patil is right. there were news reports that chief selector had an agenda against dravid dravid was batted in five diff positions before he dropped from odis read article in cricnext Patil, who himself was considered as an attacking batsmen during his playing days, said the selectors should toe the horses for courses line during an important series. "I would also like to point out that the team management should not hesitate to drop any of the out-of-form seniors to accommodate an in-form player for the sake of the team like the Sri Lankans (dropped Sanath Jayasuriya and Marvan Attapatu) and the South African (dropped Jaques Kallis) before bringing them back after finding form", Patil said. Terming the Indian selection "totally faulty" and needs to be revamped at the earliest, Patil wanted youngsters to be tried in

Dravid is a captain of indian team that won atest series in West Indies & England also won there first test ever in south africa
hey ... i went to see this game. So I can say even though Sachin got out early. He looked really good... better than the rest ... The track was pretty slow and damp and the outfield was the worst ever. Ganguly looked in Supreme touch while Dravid was very solid. But VVS Laxman looked hopeless. Tame dismissal on the leg slip.. and so was Wasim Jaffer. I must say .. no player except Dravid and Ganguly tried to apply themselves on the pitch. I've seen much bouncier pitches in India than the Junction Oval pitch. i don't whats going through the india players mind. They just got one game ahead of the huge boxing day match which is haunted by rain and even they are'nt trying to take any advantage out of it.Harbhajan,Karthik,Pathan,Sehwag,Dhoni and Ishant Sharma were busy signing autographs and having their pix clicked with fans..when they could have practised on the nets. Only Dravid and ganguly got good knocks. Noone else. Sachin is gifed and he will do well for sure. But the others do need to work really hard as it looked in Junction oval...
RE:there seems to be no motivation
by on Dec 21, 2007 03:31 PM
dude thats the only good thing they can do now. After the tour nobody will ask for autographs because they are going to be thrashed by the aussie giants
But what surprised me, that with a club level team called Victoria, Dravid is scoring runs with a snail speed, strike rate is merely 25. Because of this, pressure created to batsman on opposite end to score quick runs, resuting loss of wicket...
I wonder if same things happend if dravid comes to open @ Melbourne ground.

whats the point of taking risks to please the crowds when the weather has taken everything out of the wicket and pretty much the match. 40 overs in 2 days, on a wet pitch. thats not even worthy of a one day game. his approach has been sensible as always. better than scoring at a higher s.r and not making even a double digit score.

ganguly's greatness ganguly got his first double 100 after 11 yrs of int'l cricket hand needed 99 tests and counted fisttime at no 20 in icc test ranking after 7 yrs.

by kartik Predicted scoreline. Aussies will win 4-0. Come on guys be realistic. We have a really weak team. Our bowlers are pathetic. They cannot take 20 aussie wickets. And our batsmen are so scared of fast bowling. No chance Its not that im patriotic. Im being practical which many people dont like. Wait and watch. We may be able to draw one test match. Buts thats the only progress we will have. So heres wishing a best of luck to the team. they need it considering their position now.
