Match Referee
by Somnath on Jun 13, 2006 02:40 PM  Permalink

It has always been like that for Indian Cricket Team. The irony lies in the fact that we being the biggest money spinners for ICC, we are being targetted most. The BCCI strangely, but predictively washes its hands from issues like that. Think of a situation when the team refuses to go for any international tournaments, the ICC is going to be in its knees the next moment. Shame on ICC and shame on BCCI.

Match Referee against India?
by Ram Dutt on Jun 13, 2006 02:39 PM  Permalink

Imposing fine on Sehwag simply for appealing and letting off West Indian players, particularly Lara for his very unusual and unacceptable behaviour, is really ridiculous. It becomes all the more shameful when the referees and the ICC try to defend Lara's action. On the other hand, look at Dhoni, who without waiting for the Umpires' decision, accepted Lara's word. This is an example of 'sportsmanship'.

match referee
by MANOJ SOLANKI on Jun 13, 2006 02:39 PM  Permalink

HI,
My share of comments regardn this match referee issue is,this has been happening for quite a long time. All other teams always get an exception other than the asian teams mostly. And the worst affected in these 4 asian coutries is INDIA and PAKISTAN they are alwyas sidelined and given more penalty than the other opposition for the same mistake. These issues being transperent in the TV and the explanation given by the referees always mismatch.

Regards

Partha

Referee's decision making skills
by vamsi krishna on Jun 13, 2006 02:39 PM  Permalink

Let them be trained by the unpires from India or even from the India subcontinent. They are the most honest on the field when coming to taking decisions. I have never seen some one pointing any un due penalties rubbed upon the players of any country playing here.
Let the ICC and the world take a leaf from us. . . we are willing to tech.

Match refree
by Ankit Jajodia on Jun 13, 2006 02:36 PM  Permalink

I completely agree with it. The match refree has to be more unbaised befor taking decisions. How can Lara be justified for his actions when something as mere as excessive appealing attracts a penalty. Shewag does not has any emotions, it seems to be so after the statement from ICC.

Jeff Crowe should be made to eat crow
by Subrata Das on Jun 13, 2006 02:36 PM  Permalink

Jeff Crowe has always had an acrimonious relationship with Greg Chappell.
His penalizing India is only a manifestation of that trans Tasman animosity.
He wants to beat the maid to teach the maiden!!!!
It is time the BCCI stepped in and arm twisted ICC to make Crowe eat crow.

Wrong thing by the match refree
by Karan on Jun 13, 2006 02:35 PM  Permalink

The match referre is doing partiality and is favoring the West Indies by not banning on Pedro Collins and Brian Lara for there rude behavior. This partiallity should not be done.

This is very wrong decision by the match referre.

He should answer to upper authorities regarding this.

He should also take up the ban of Sehwag and withdraw it.

If that such case would have happened in India the referre would have not reacted like this.

MATCH REFREE
by sachin on Jun 13, 2006 02:34 PM  Permalink

I think its right. becuse Lara can do anything and if our players do anything, they get punishment. Martch referee is very rude behaviour against Our Players.

I think BCCI must take some steps against ICC.

Match referee against India
by Vijay on Jun 13, 2006 02:33 PM  Permalink

This is not the first time that the players from the subcontinent are facing arbitrary rulings against them. Sachin was accused of ball tampering in South Africa and almost half the team were reprimanded by the referee then. Sunil Gavaskar is the elite panel in the almost defunct ICC, not to mention Mr. Javagal Srinath who has been inducted in to the ICC panel. Probably the international cricketing community as well as the ICC think it is up to the indians to make the game mor gentlemanly when others are always getting away with this so called "mild slipups". I still remember the mumbai test match when Michael Slater caught the Rahul Dravid after the ball pitched on the Ground and he used all sort of un parliamentary words and i don't remember any action being taken against him apart from being warned for his mild misconduct. Since we, normal people don't play at that level, we are told by ex players that we don't know what goes on in the field and we should not criticize the players or any one else. Well Mr. Gavaskar, You play the game, we prayed for you and we have cheered for you now I think the time has come for you and your likes to stand up to this step motherly treatment.
